It went from a couple of 2 to a family of 3, then 4, then 5, then a party of 6.  The branding of Northstar is imprinted in the essence of the Essman Consulting logo.  The conception of a family-named business intrinsically captured both the memory of Northstar and the memory of the patriarch of the California Essman family - a strong logo with a meaning and a memory.

Essman Consulting is an homage to James Floyd Essman.  He was known for his passion for great organizing and his talent in education and mentoring.

After graduating Greeley Teachers College (now UNC), Jim taught 5th grade in Arvada, Colorado until he was called to teach in California (an interesting call to action story beginning in Red Rocks Amphitheatre… a story for another time…).  While in California he published works to support teachers, administrators and unions.  He became a director and union organizer and continued for 34 years until his retirement.

He leaves an honorable legacy impacting numerous organizations and the ultimate lasting memory of a man who, even at the height of his career and momentum, always put family first.

Essman Consulting continues the legacy of a man who had a passion for supporting educators. The core value of the company is optimizing organization and efficiency, clearing a path for student learning.
